Altar(ed) Spaces archetypal spa design is not a mere symphony of aesthetic elements, but a measured conduit for eliciting introspection and awareness. Drawing inspiration from the tapestry of tarot archetypes and theories of Jungian analysis, Altar(ed) Spaces merges the art of divination with a restorative bathing experience to create a contemporary sanctuary. The bathing chambers not only offer moments of respite and rejuvenation but also serves as a dynamic vessels for inner revelation. The unique sensorial experience encourages individuals to navigates the intricate corridors of their subconscious, venturing towards the concealed recesses of their mind that may otherwise remain obscured.

In an act of ritual bathing, we will inhabit an Altar(ed) mental Space to turn inwards, sitting with the dark, shadowy, and desirous aspects of ourselves. With this exploration comes the possibility of liberation, namely the knowledge that change is possible, and it rests at the spectral juncture of the mind and the world.

The ritual bath is a divination practice where, prior to bathing, one chooses from one of nine animal cards that are representative of cards 1 through 9 in tarot. The animal card you choose will allude to the shadow aspect, or “impure” belief, that you’ve been drawn to and are invited to contemplate during your bath. Each animal has a corresponding bathing chamber that’s somatic activations (lighting, type of bath, tea, temperature, and so forth) reflect the archetype it represents.
